Why Attend

A Canadian hub for research, industry & ideas

Toronto is an important Canadian centre for business, finance, technology, research, and professional activity. Its diverse industry base creates a relevant setting for multidisciplinary conferences where academic research and professional experience can be discussed together. For conference participants, the value of attending comes from more than the destination itself. A well-matched Toronto conference can give you opportunities to learn from presentations, exchange ideas with other participants, discuss current challenges in your field, and establish academic or professional connections.

1

Connect Across Academic and Professional Fields

Multidisciplinary conferences can bring together participants who approach similar problems from different perspectives. A researcher, entrepreneur, manager, educator, technology professional, or student may encounter ideas that would not normally appear within a single workplace or academic department.

2

Learn From Research and Professional Experience

Conference presentations can include research findings, practical experience, case-based discussions, emerging issues, and professional perspectives. Review the agenda and conference objectives before registering to make sure the event aligns with what you want to learn.

3

Build Relevant Professional Connections

Networking is most useful when attendees share meaningful interests. Choosing a conference closely related to your field can help you meet researchers, professionals, speakers, authors, and other participants working on similar topics or challenges.

Boarding Checklist

How to choose the right conference

Before registering, compare more than the conference title. Review the individual event page carefully and consider the following:

01

Conference Topic

Check whether the conference themes and call for papers are relevant to your research area, profession, studies, or business interests.

02

Date and Registration Deadline

Confirm that you have enough time to complete registration and make any required travel arrangements before the event.

03

Paper Submission Deadline

If you want to present research, review the abstract or paper submission deadline before registering. Submission deadlines may occur before the general attendee registration deadline.

04

Participation Option

Determine whether you want to participate as an author, speaker, or listener and confirm which registration options are available for the event.

05

Venue

Check the confirmed Toronto conference venue before booking accommodation or planning local transportation.

06

Conference Fees

Review the applicable registration fee and what is included with your selected registration type.

07

Publication or Proceedings Information

If publication is important to you, review the conference's paper submission, peer-review, abstract, and proceedings information before submitting. Do not assume every conference or every submitted paper has the same publication outcome.

08

Invitation Letter Requirements

If you are travelling internationally and require supporting documentation, review GCA's invitation letter process before registering and allow adequate time for your travel preparations.

Attending From Outside Canada

Attending a Toronto Conference From Outside Canada

International participants can register for eligible Toronto conferences provided they meet the applicable conference requirements. After completing the required registration and payment process, participants attending an eligible GCA event may request an official conference invitation letter. The letter includes participant and conference information and can be used as supporting documentation when preparing an applicable Canadian travel or visa application.

!

A conference invitation letter does not guarantee that a Canadian visa will be approved. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) independently assesses visa and entry applications.

Depending on their nationality and circumstances, travellers may require a visitor visa, an electronic travel authorization (eTA), or other documentation. Participants should check current IRCC requirements before making travel arrangements.
